DR. BRAY'S PHILOSOPHY
The physical demands of pregnancy and breastfeeding can result in dramatic changes to a woman’s body; however that doesn’t mean you need to give up your ideal body. Since a mommy makeover is a multifaceted procedure, Dr. Bray takes a holistic approach. He does his best to create a proportional, youthful, and hourglass figure. Scheduling a private consultation with Dr. Bray will help you design your makeover.
For most patients, this means creating a surgical plan that improves the abdomen, breasts, pockets of excess fat, and sometimes the thighs and buttocks.

Dr. Bray’s Procedure
Am I ready for a mommy makeover?
If you are nursing or your child is not yet 6 months old, Dr. Bray recommends that you wait. Waiting 6 months or later post breast-feeding is ideal to ensure breast tissue is more stable. He also recommends waiting until you decide to have no more children. Although a mommy makeover will not adversely affect the processes of pregnancy and childbirth, you may need a second set of procedures as your original results will be impacted.
Which parts of the procedure are prioritized?
This depends on what is most important to the patient, and what Dr. Bray and the patient decide on. Dr. Bray will give his expert opinion on how to best accentuate, shape, and balance the body. For example, if the patient is uncomfortable with their breasts and abdomen, Dr. Bray may recommend abdominoplasty, followed by a tummy tuck, then a breast lift or augmentation. Dr. Bray will work with his specialists to decide the best course of action.
What should I expect after the procedure?
Since the tummy tuck and liposuction are the most uncomfortable procedures, Dr. Bray will prescribe you pain medication. It is important to note that any procedure that requires long incisions will not be accompanied by a tummy tuck on the same day. Due to the healing process, it is important to wait in between procedures. Oftentimes, a mommy makeover may require two days of procedures, spread over a period of months. He will also provide you instructions for how to care for yourself after your procedure. You should expect to need caretaking, and have someone assist you with childcare during your recovery. Recovery times vary; however, if you follow Dr. Bray’s instructions, you can expect a speedier recovery.
For The Breasts
Breasts undergo major changes with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Afterward, they may be too small, too large, saggy or droopy, deflated, asymmetric, or a combination of these features. The breast component of a mommy makeover can therefore be highly variable between women. Therefore, it may include a breast lift, reduction, implant, fat transfer, liposuction, or several of these components. For this reason, Dr. Bray will consult you on your ideal size and shape, while providing implants, reduction, and lift options that provide a natural look. Learn more about breast procedures here.
For The Midsection
Pregnancy causes stretching of the abdominal skin and muscles. These changes can be difficult or impossible to improve with diet and exercise. A mommy makeover therefore includes some form of a tummy tuck, intending to make the abdomen flatter, tighter, and more youthful. Breasts and abdomen are the core components, requiring some liposuction and fat transfer. These aspects of the procedure play a large part in shaping an hourglass figure. As such, Dr. Bray spends extra time planning these procedures.Bray’s custom approach is likely to include various forms of liposuction. These tackle stubborn bulges and improve the contours through the waist, flanks, and love handles. This combination of procedures can be used to achieve the ideal abdomen, flanks, and more. For The Lower Body
This part of the mommy makeover can help women achieve the silhouette they desire. From buttock shaping and contouring, to hip contouring and filling hip-dips in between love handles – the mommy makeover can transform the lower half of your body. Dr. Bray uses BodyTITE™ for nearly all liposuction procedures to provide a tighter, youthful, healthier look. For some patients, this includes inner and outer thigh procedures, too. FAQ
What is included in a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover is a procedure for women after their birthing years that normally includes procedures to improve the breasts, abdomen, thighs and buttocks. This is accomplished through breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
Can I get everything done in one procedure?
Most healthy candidates can safely undergo a mommy makeover in a single surgical procedure. Sometimes the ideal goal will be too extensive for a single session, and must be separated into two or more stages. Dr. Bray will help you create a plan that combines procedures to reduce downtime while ensuring your safety. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Bray for more details on what procedures can be paired together, and the timeline for the procedures.
Will I have scarring after my procedures?
When it comes to surgery, you can always expect scarring. However, Dr. Bray uses advanced technology and careful, strategic incisions to reduce visible scarring. Breast scars will be hidden beneath any normal bra or bikini. The abdominal scar from a tummy tuck normally heals well and is generally hidden by your underwear or swimsuit. Dr. Bray aims to keep this scar as low as possible to more easily conceal it.
Should I still get a mommy makeover if I plan to have more kids?
A mommy makeover is a significant surgical undertaking in terms of cost and recovery. While having more children after this procedure is certainly possible, you can expect additional changes to your body that might compromise the quality of your long term results. For this reason Dr. Bray recommends scheduling your mommy makeover once certain that you are finished having babies.
